Some things to be aware of as before you begin use of this forum:

1. Please be advised that there are not any physicians moderating this forum. The moderators are simply “lay people” – other parents who are not medically trained in food allergy or related issues. Moderators do not provide medical advice on this forum. There are other food allergy forums online available that do have medical moderators and we encourage you to participate in these such forums when seeking any medical advice from a moderator (as well as seeking advice of your personal physician). Also, another family’s suggestions during posts are never be considered medical advice. This is informal “chat” with other families and information here does not substitute, in any way, for proper evaluation and treatment by a personal physician. Seeking a board certified allergist is recommended for any medical advice regarding food allergy.

2. The intention of this forum is for local families (Southern Nevada), who have children with food allergies, to be able to communicate easily as a group in between meetings. Communicating on the forum will give a platform for things such as sharing ideas (e.g. recipes, things a family is finding helpful at school, ideas for travel, etc.), experiences (e.g., sharing stories about prior food allergy reactions, etc. that could benefit other families to be aware of, etc.), encouragement/support, planning informal play-dates or gatherings, announcing triumphs, discussing challenges….

3. Please do not use the forum for advertising.

4. Moderators will remove any posts that are determined to be inappropriate.

That said, we are thrilled to be able to offer this tool to our group! We encourage your participation! Please try to check back often (as your busy schedule as a parent allows) for opportunity to post new threads and/or to help provide feedback, support, ideas, etc. to other group members who have posted a question, concern, etc.

To create a new thread:

1. Make sure you are logged in.
2. Enter the new thread's subject in the Message Forum page.
3. Click on 'Create Thread'.
4. You will be redirected to this page, where you can start entering messages.

Tip:

- The threads are displayed in order by the date of the last message in the thread. The latest ones are on the top.

- The messages are displayed in reverse order, the latest ones are last.

Tip:

To search for a certain topic in previous threads/posts: from the forum page, select the search term (a word or phrase you want to search for) and click on search. The system will display the list of threads that have messages that contain this word or phrase. Also, on the top (above the threads list) you will see “Search Results”, this way the user knows that the list of threads have been filtered. If you click on “Clear Search” the system will reset the search options and will show the complete list of threads.
