I, and many others, have been disappointed and discouraged by the series of recent inappropriate/ignorant news articles that have belittled the seriousness of life-threatening food allergy. It has been a step back after a step forward from all the media efforts earlier in 2008 that were providing accurate information to our communities about food allergy.

The disbelief of food allergy restrictions, etc. in the media hits close to home for most of us as we know educating others is often one of the hardest things about living with food allergy- simply because it often becomes such an uphill battle to get family/friends/caregivers/teachers to believe what has to be done to avoid exposure as well as to trust the person will respond quickly and appropriately IF there is accidental exposure.

Reading many of the awful articles lately has been frustrating. I remind myself: stop and breeeeeathe. :) Dr. Wood's article is a breath of fresh air!!!!
