Shoot! Sorry, Leslie.... I was messing around on the admin page and I accidently deleted your post!!! Ok, everyone, Leslie posted a comment here saying that the owner's at the Dairy Queen on Paseo Verde (Henderson) have been very helpful in accomodating nut and egg food allergies with their ice cream cakes for her family in the past. Leslie has since moved to KS and said the Dairy Queen there has not been helpful.

Thanks for posting!!!! We miss you! Wow, that's really neat to hear. I have totally stayed clear of Dairy Queen b/c of all the nuts they use---now I'm intrigued to go in and talk with them! Thanks for letting us know! Sorry you're not having luck in KS, with Dairy Queen at least...how are the restaraunts there in general- about like here or worse/better re: food allergy education?

We miss everyone too! I have not found a support group here and have not met anyone dealing with food allergies.
It has been rather up and down here. Some restaurant managers getting a bit agitated when I call or ask with questions about the menu. We are finding our way around and the places that we can eat at safely. They have Chick-Fill-A's all over the place here and they use 100% peanut oil and eggs in milk shakes. On the other hand, we have had fantastic luck with preschools. The school that my son is at has a "no nut and liquid milk" policy.
The owners at that DQ are fantastic (hopefully the same owners). I just had to post that as it is always nice to know that you can go somewhere and they are willing to go the extra mile to make something special.
