I received this email recently and wanted to pass along the info. May be of interest for some of our families who have little ones...
Hello- I was reading about your organization and I have a very helpful resource to share. I am a Mother of three two of my children suffer from severe food allergies. With summer camps coming up, off to pre-school and changing caregivers food allergies in young children is a concern for all. Education is the key! The numbers according to (FAAN) the Food Allergy & Anaphylaxis Network are 1 in 17 estimated to be three million children, under the age of three, have the highest incidences of food allergies. I observed my child in a busy pre-school class. In the class there were three little boys with the same color hair as my child, when the children turned around you could not tell on from the other. A medical identification bracelet alone can be easily overlooked due to clothing or the fact that young children are moving, busy their hands are not always within sight.Young children with food allergies need to be identified to keep them well. So, I taught myself a computer program and designed ALERT CLOTHING COMPANY with the child in mind we are needed and new! Bright, cheerful, colorful child friendly graphics (fish, ladybugs, fairies, dinosaurs and cowboys...) with the message of food allergies clearly stated on each t-shirt, sweatshirt and coordinating tote bag there are twelve adorable designs in all. What makes this line unique- the company logo is on the back of each item for easy identification as well in case the child is turned around. A parent cannot be present constantly and a two, three or four year old cannot be held responsible for advocating for themselves. In a busy summer camp, pre-school or daycare the volunteers, teachers and caregivers are thankful to have a child clearly identified because food is an issue daily. The goal raise awareness, help the caregivers with the identification of food allergies, and have the child feel special too! ALERT CLOTHING COMPANY supports FAAN. This month ALERT CLOTHING COMPANY is being reviewed in the "Try It" section of the national magazine LIVING WITHOUT. Please keep ALERT CLOTHING COMPANY in mind as a resource to share with the group. Raising awareness can help so many.Thank you for your time and consideration please visit the website to learn more www.alertclothingcompany.com My Best, Rebecca Nelson ALERT CLOTHING COMPANY
