June 16, 2009 - At long last, families of
children with medical needs can turn to one website for a support community. Bright Beacon, a secure online social networking tool, was founded by two doctors and their families to meet the perceived needs of families seeking local resources to cope with their child's illness.

Until now, families have had to turn illness-specific organizations like cysticfibrosis.com to connect. But what if your child doesn't have a well-known illness, or has more than one illness? Bright Beacon utilizes web 2.0 technology to allow families to create a profile for their child, select multiple diagnoses, and start connecting wtih other families near them in under 5 minutes. Looking for a playgroup? a baby-sitting swap? a vacation share? someone who understands? Bright Beacon gives parents the tools to find and create their own community.
